This is General Hein from Square's 2001 financial catastrophe, Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. Still, I, for one, like the movie--it wasn't great, but it wasn't as god-awful as many seem to believe, either. In particular, I always liked General Hein.
So, I decided to take a stab at him. The ever-present scowl in his natural facial structure was one thing I tried to capture, and I think it turned out pretty well. That said, the shoddy detailing of the ear is a prime example of my main flaw in sculpting, which is impatience. So, when I'm able to get back into the swing of sculpting again, that's going to be my main focus of improvement. Hope you like it.

------------EDIT--------------
Another in the line of updates, nothing too major or special. Just added a background and tweaked a few things here and there. Hope you like.
Thanks! Sakaguchi went a little off to left field with the movie, I'll admit, and it had little to do with Final Fantasy itself. But, it's a good movie, and a landmark in animation history.
But, I agree. Advent Children was at least a step in a better direction for Square, movie-wise.

putting my feelings towards that movie aside ( there is much to be said an there is not enough time in my hands to write it all...)
all i can say by now will be :
1.Really liked the cheeks and the cowl expression (thx for the new word added to my poor vocabulary ... )
2.The movie is really good if you take away the title of "FInal Fantasy" and just have putted The spirits within as a title itself or another shit with another sub.title would have made this a somewhat better movie...
see you nexttime bubba...
( yes, i have given myself the freedom to call you by "your" last name in a sign of a pseudo relationship of admiration towards your sculpturing abbilities)...
I will be the first to admit that I have a vile purposeless hatred for that movie in particular. I think it was mostly due to my frustration with Square moving further and further away from what made Final Fantasy so fun initially for me. Its rather hard to put into words really.
If the movie had been named anything but Final Fantasy, I might not have despised it. If that makes any sense at all.
...
Anyway, the sculpture looks very nice.

Thank you (and feel free to call me whatever you want)! I do agree that more fans of the series might not have such a grudge against the movie had it not had "Final Fantasy" in the title, and took it for what it was.
Glad to know I can help out a bit with your English. Scowl is the only word I could think of at the moment when trying to describe the look Hein always has plastered on his face.
Thanks again for the compliments!

Wow. I wrote a reply to Pepepipipopo's comment having not even scrolled down to yours yet, and your feelings on the movie fit eerily in with the assumption used in that reply. Creepy.
Since I posted Red XIII recently (being from the most popular of FFs), I thought I'd go the other way, and post something from probably the most reviled of anything FF. I kind of wondered what the comments might be like, and this isn't too far off from what I had guessed.
That said, glad you like the piece!
