When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.

Really...how could you not trust a face like that?
So, this would be Kefka, the rather psychotic court jester-looking second-in-command of the Empire--well, until he killed the emperor and became a god of sorts. Fun fact: he's got quite a lot in common with Sephiroth. Both were the results of experiments, as Kefka was the first MagiTek Knight, but the treatments drove him insane, which is the second thing they have in common. They both killed the heads of the ruling bodies to which each belonged (President Shinra, Emperor Gestahl), and lastly, well, they both transform into multi-winged angels in their final forms. If you remember, there was a point in Final Fantasy VI where Emperor Gestahl apparently turned over a new leaf, ended his exploitation of the Espers, and imprisoned Kefka. I suppose that would be what we see here in this deviation. Considering the lighting, I thought it was a decent idea. Yep, the lighting fits the mood, but it's another attempt to uber-dramatize a sculpt I'm underwhelmed with. I wish I had used a different reference picture. But, what's done is done, I suppose. For the deviation, I used a stock that worked quite well from Thanks for allowing it to be used Super Sculpey and acrylic paints (35th out of 78) Kefka & Final Fantasy VI are (c) Square-Enix |

I imagine a lot of newer FF fans won't touch FFVI 'cause of it's graphics (which were top of the line, at the time). So, I'd love to see FFVI get at LEAST the DS 3D upgrade so he can be more widely appreciated in all his bat-s#!t crazy glory.
Appreciate you checking him out, Andrea

Curious, though. Was this one done before or after the Playstation re-release of the game, with the attempted 3D cut-scenes, or back before, and more based on the Amano artwork or pixelly-goodness of the SNES?
A very astute question about when this was made, as it directly relates to the questionable reference picture from which I worked. (In Hannibal Lecter voice): "Clever girl..." But yes, this was made after the PSone version came out, and I used a piece of CG art from the gallery in it.

Would love to see a proper remake of VI... as unlikely as that is... Granted, I really hope that if a remake is done, its not in a cartoonish SD style...
Even if it were, I'd still pick it up, though.
...
Err... the sculpture is loverly, and you really captured Kefka's unsettling demeanor. Nice lighting and the bars are a nice touch.

I actually think a remake of FFVI is freakishly likely. Going by what S-E did with the Gameboy Advance 16-bit remakes, and now with FFIII & FFIV for the DS, it's only a matter of time before FFV, and eventually FFVI is announced for the DS. I would actually be
I imagine you meant a current-gen styled remake by "proper," in which case I'd completely agree that would never happen. So, I guess we'll have to be happy with the SD style on the DS.
